Here. Newsletter July 2010 The year started with the devastating loss off Strinesdale Matador, suddenly fourteen years had come to an end and it was very hard to bear. However it was made easier for us all by the tremendous outpouring of grief and sympathy which the horse world expressed, although largely un-recognised by the main stream Equestrian press (one magazine even refused to print our thank you letter) it was we believe one of the most incredible acts of recognition for any Equine in history, Internet Forums and our own website were swamped by tributes. The fact that Mattie is once again NPS Champion Sire is just an underlining of his true greatness. The year however has again been notable for happier things such as the performance of stock by Pickmere bred and sired stock. Just three examples : Pickmere Amrita - Champion Side Saddle at Cheshire County, The Mistral four year old, Julie Dimelow`s `For Keeps` Champion Riding Horse at Shropshire and West Mid and Pickmere Anser, Reserve Champion Riding Pony at Royal Windsor.
